Atsugi: Embracing the East (Early 1960s)
In the early 1960s, I ventured to Atsugi, Japan, where my fashion journey took a transformative turn. The elegance of traditional Japanese clothing, the precision of tailoring, and the simplicity of design all captivated my senses. I began to appreciate the beauty of minimalism and the importance of craftsmanship.
It was in Atsugi that I learned to embrace timeless silhouettes and to pay meticulous attention to details. Kimonos and yukatas taught me the value of comfort and the art of draping. These lessons would later inform the fluidity and grace of my designs.
